A BIT ABOUT ME
Hey, I'm Josh!
I started powerlifting in 2012 because I felt lost without competition, and I needed something to scratch that competitive itch. My first prep worked but I had no clue what I was doing. Here's a not-so-short list of all the things I did wrong:
I maxed out all the time
I cut 17lbs in 5 days (I should have just competed in the weight class my natural weight sat around)
I showed up to the wrong weigh ins
I wrote down ALL 9 of my attempts on the attempt cards
I brought the wrong attire, and had to sprint to target to purchase appropriate socks and underwear.
It was *almost* an unmitigated disaster, but I was able to learn on the fly during the meet and went 7-for-9 on attempts that day. I continued to compete and learned a TON while coaching a collegiate powerlifting team from 2015 to the present. Today, I help novice powerlifters get jacked & hit massive PRs without spending all day in the gym.
Since 2015, I’ve produced:
14 collegiate national champions (and several more top 3-5 finishers)
3 High school national champions (including a world record squat)
Have coached dozens of people get over their fears and compete in their first local powerlifting meet, hitting an average of 8.3 out of 9 attempts!
My goal is to get you as strong as possible, as durable as possible, and to prepare you for your first competition so you can be successful. You'll walk into the competition like it's another day at the office, knowing you're fully prepared and know exactly what to expect on meet day.
